What does the Bible say about women serving as pastors or elders?
I attend a church where women are senior pastors. Someone told me this is unbiblical. I want to study this for myself. What does the Bible actually teach about women in leadership?

The complementarian reading of 1 Timothy 2:12-3:7 and Titus 1:5-9 understands the eldership/pastorate as a male office grounded in creation order, not culture. Paul's argument in 1 Timothy 2 traces back to Adam and Eve, not to Ephesian customs. This does not diminish women — Priscilla, Deborah, Phoebe, and Junia all had vital ministries.
The egalitarian reading understands 1 Timothy 2 as addressing a specific local problem in Ephesus. The same Paul calls Junia 'outstanding among the apostles' (Romans 16:7) and records Philip's four prophesying daughters. Galatians 3:28 announces a new creation reality that levels gender hierarchy.
Whatever view your church holds, the more important question is whether women are equipped, serving, and flourishing in ministry — which they absolutely should be, in every tradition.
